EUNOS goes green!

EUNOS implements various initiatives to demonstrate its dedication to environmental stewardship and to inspire positive change within the scientific community and beyond.

Below, we highlight some of the sustainable initiatives implemented during the EUNOS congress:

📱EUNOS app 📱

EUNOS is committed to reducing its environmental footprint, and one way we’re doing this is by introducing a mobile app to replace printed program booklets. By utilizing this app, attendees can access all the necessary information about the conference, including schedules, speaker bios, and venue maps, directly from their smartphones or tablets. Not only does this eliminate the need for printing paper booklets, but it also reduces paper waste and the associated environmental impact. We believe that embracing technology in this way not only streamlines the conference experience for attendees but also demonstrates our dedication to sustainable practices. Join us in our efforts to protect the planet by embracing the convenience and eco-friendliness of our conference app.

Our disposables

Current climate developments, plastic pollution, the depletion of fossil raw materials and increasing harmful CO2 emissions require sustainable alternatives to plastic packaging; packaging and disposables made from natural (bio-based) raw materials, often obtained from agricultural residual flows such as palm leaves, sugar cane and polyactide (melic acid from plants). In this way we respond to the increasing awareness of sustainability and circular entrepreneurship.

Seasonal and local

Besides our preference for local and pure products, we solely use seasonal menus and ingredients. When people request products that are ‘out of season’, we always aim to propose an alternative. Furthermore, we only use local products supplied by local producers. So: no organic strawberries from South America, but only Dutch strawberries when they are available in the Netherlands. We are good at what we call ‘local globalisation’, international dishes cooked in Utrecht with local and/or Dutch seasonal products.

Green Key

At Vineyard, we do everything in our power to make your event a success, while at the same time making sure the damage done to our planet is minimal. With small measures, we succeed in limiting our CO2 footprint considerably. Herewith we take a step further than the normal laws and regulations that are required. For this effort, we have received a golden Green Key-certificate. Green Key is a well-known international, voluntary eco-label for sustainable companies in the hotel- and retail sector.

🏬Rotterdam🏬

The venue of EUNOS 2024 is located within two minutes walking distance from Rotterdam Central Station. Rotterdam is recognized for its commitment to sustainable travel options, offering a range of eco-friendly alternatives for visitors. Its well-planned public transportation system, including trams, buses, and trains, ensures efficient and environmentally conscious mobility within the city.

The city’s focus on sustainable travel is also evident in its extensive railway network, providing eco-friendly alternatives for longer journeys. Opting for trains over traditional modes of transport such as cars and planes reduces carbon emissions significantly.

A standout feature of Rotterdam is its extensive network of bike paths and lanes, reflecting the city’s dedication to cycling infrastructure. With numerous bike rental stations available, visitors can easily enjoy emission-free transportation while exploring Rotterdam’s vibrant streets and landmarks.
